Blue-headed Vireo Vireo solitarius
Palm Warbler Setophaga palmarum
Chipping Sparrow Spizella passerina
Hermit Thrush Catharus guttatus
Brown Creeper Certhia americana
Brown Creeper Certhia americana
Eastern Cottontail Sylvilagus floridanus
Northern Raccoon Procyon lotor
Eastern Chipmunk Tamias striatus
Woodchuck/Groundhog Marmota monax
My feet ache, along with the legs that got them into trouble, after an epic six hour birdwalk. I was going to check out the 'Westmount Warbler Walk' this morning, but must have fallen back to sleep somehow after my alarm went off at 5:45 am. I walked up there a bit later in the morning, and just kept on walking through Côte-des-Neiges Cemetery into Mount Royal Cemetery. The Palm Warbler and Blue-headed Vireos were promising signs of movement at the Summit, with more surely on the way - I smelled warblers in the wind last night. Hermit Thrush, Chipping Sparrow, and White-throated Sparrow numbers seemed to be up as well. I was surprised to see a rabbit at the Summit, presumably an Eastern Cottontail. I wonder if it is normal to see this species there, or could this be a release of some kind?
